And the battle for hegemony in the mobile phone market, now in Britain. According to research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech , dedicated to market research, Android and Apple surpassed sales of smartphones for the month of October. In the words of Dominic Sunnebo , director of the firm, Apple reached almost 43% share of sales of smartphones in the month of October, while for the same period, Android played in 35% ceiling. It is the first time that the Cupertino outperform its more powerful rival in the region since 2010.
“Apple was the amount of 42.8% share of sales of smartphones , which represents a significant advantage over Android, a feat that was impossible for many”
These figures seem to show the success that the new iPhone 4S has had in Britain, and possibly in Europe, since this area is often used as an indicator of behavior in other countries in the region. The high demand seems to have emerged from the buzz created by the significant delay before this model saw the light in October.
It is important to note that 75% of users who bought an iPhone 4S in October and had an earlier model of the apple mobile, so market share is not increased in the same way. Thus, Apple finished second in the standings with a market share of 27.8%, second only to Android (Google) with a total of 46%. As for the other participants, Blackberry (RIM) was 19.6%, Symbian (Nokia) 3.9%, followed by Windows Phone 7 (Microsoft) with 1%.
