During his Google IO Developer Conference, Google announced that several major manufacturers Android-based units have joined forces to develop common guidelines and comply with the launch of new versions of Android for existing units.Currently, when purchasing a mobile phone operated with Android, the buyer has no guarantee as to the frequency and speed with which the terminal manufacturer shall keep updated with new versions of the platform.
The guidelines have been developed now will determine, among other things, the speed with which the units must be updated after the release of a new version of Android. Also specify the period in which the manufacturer is obliged to offer new versions of the operating system for older units.
Currently there are large differences not only between manufacturers but also between a model and another, the same manufacturer. Some models are updated rapidly, while in other cases the procedure can take up to six months. Some manufacturers discontinue the installation of new versions of Android after relatively short time. In some cases this is because the hardware is inadequate, although there are several examples to the contrary.
While the development of guidelines is not yet complete, and it was agreed that the new units of the Partnership participants will receive the new Android updates for 18 months after its launch, as the hardware permits.
The founding members of the alliance include Verizon, HTC, Samsung, Sprint, Sony Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Motorola and AT & T, but from already welcomed new stakeholders.
According to Google, Android 2.2. has been installed in 66% of all units operated with Android. Android 2.3, released in December 2010, has only been installed in 4% of total global terminals.

Especially in devices that allow us to enjoy it in the comfort of home. One of the most recent, shows South Korean companies – Samsung, who presented this week his new three dimensional glasses.
